- Drug effects: Uppers, downers and sideways (brainstorm)
- Drug attitudes: Fantasy Island game (pairs or small groups)
- The Law: The differences in classes of drugs (active)
- Confidential Q/A session: Askit Baskit * 1
2nd Session 2.5 hours
Drug facts and fiction:
- Recap on last session: Legal and illegal drugs (presentation)
- Health effects physical, mental & emotional (pairs)
- What people do despite legal and health implications (brainstorm drug trends)
- What impact do drugs have on people, families and communities (small groups)
- Why do people choose to use drugs: pros and cons
- ( guessing game )
- What can be done to lessen the impact of drugs (harm reduction approaches)
- Where can you get help if you or someone you know needs it? * 2
- Loose ends (questions and answer session)
* 1 Recognising that as many as one in six young people live in families where alcohol and other drugs are a problem for at least one member of their family, we want to give the young people the opportunity to be able to ask questions anonymously.
* 2 Resources provided on local services and contact details for substance use agencies and associated organisations.
